The Experience

This experience works in the following way. You purchase this experience voucher. When we receive your order you will be asked via email for the details of the star you are naming: What would the star be called, (if you want you can select a particular constellation), dedication (e.g. who the star is for, why and from whom), date to be commemorated, and personal message to appear on the Star name registration certificate. When you answer, the pack will be sent and you will receive it 7-10 days later. As well as receiving your gift set, your chosen star name is registered in "A Personal Guide to the Universe", a listing of new star names and their telescopic co-ordinates.

When you name a star in the constellation of your choice you will receive:
- Certificate of Registration - showing the new Star Name, the date of registration and the star s telescopic co-ordinates
- Astronomical star chart - computer generated astronomical chart showing the precise location of the star you have named
- Universal Star Listing?s (USL?s) map of the night sky - this great chart shows all the constellations and stars visible to the naked eye
- Star registration details - confirmation of the star details its official Tyco II catalogue number and your entry into our register
- USL s softback book - our constellation, historical and mythological guide. Including a beginner s guide to astronomy.

Other info

There are simply too many stars in the sky to name. When new stars are surveyed they are accurately positioned and numbered before being entered into a catalogue. Scientists and astronomers use the catalogue numbers when identifying stars leaving open the opportunity for others to give the stars a more meaningful name. Name a Star will select a numbered star in a constellation of your choice and allocate it your chosen name, recording it in a star record book. This becomes a special gift, uniquely meaningful to both the giver and receiver.
