"RoboSapien is a toy-like biomorphic robot designed by Mark Tilden and produced by Wow Wee toys. The RoboSapien is preprogrammed with moves, and also can be controlled infrared by the included remote control, by a personal computer with the help of an infrared transmitter, or from an infrared equipped PDA.
He is capable of walking without the assistance of wheels on his feet, grasping objects with either hand and throwing them, and has several different caveman vocalizations. The remote control has 21 different buttons. With the help of the shift button, you have access to 67 different commands that the robot can execute.
The Robosapien is equipped with a basic level of programmability. You can string together commands to form your own macros or mini-programs. Programs can be played back as the result of pressing the ""execute"" button, as the result of touching one of the sensors on his hands or feet, or by putting him in ""listen"" mode and making a sharp noise. For example, you could program him to Burp, Fart, and then give someone the High Five any time someone touched his left hand.

Modifiable
Mark Tilden designed the Robosapien to be easily modified or hacked. The electronics inside are easily accessed and are clearly labeled. A growing community of hackers have devoted themselves to adding new functionality to the robot. Some hacks have added a live video camera, others an LED belt that displays text, headlights, speech synthesis and more.

Soccer
At the Robocup German Open 2005 tournament two teams of three Robosapiens each played the first soccer match of humanoid robots worldwide. University of Osnabrück played against a team from Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg. Replacing the head by a PDA allowed the robot to perceive its environment with a camera, a control program could then react to this via the PDA's infrared sender
