New Page 1 Anyone who has ever purchased an item with a price sticker knows that it's a hassle to remove it. Usually, when you try to remove stickers from the product a small amount of sticky residue remains. This residue makes the product look messy and dirty, but it can be prevented! The key to removing stickers is using some type of liquid. This works on metal, plastic, and wood surfaces, though it’s not advised to use it on paper products. Apply a small amount of water to the surface of the sticker, and make sure it's enough to completely coat and saturate it. Then, using a sharp object such as a nail file or butter knife, scrape the edge of the object along the sticker and it should come off completely without leaving any messy residue. Another option is remove the price sticker as slowly as possible using a sharp object. Once again, the edge of the object should be placed on one corner of the sticker and then slowly pulled until the sticker is gone. Once this is complete, there’s bound to be a small amount of residue left behind, but that can also be removed. Hold the sticker in one hand and press it gently against the residue before pulling it back up. In many cases the adhesive will stick to the back of the sticker and come off the product. If this doesn’t work, then you could try a small amount of masking or clear office tape. If there is any residue left after this, go back to the old water trick. Apply a small coating of water to the residue and let it sit for several minutes (but don't wait too long or the water will evaporate). The water works with the adhesive and turns it into a gummy paste that slides off with the help of a fingernail or a knife edge. Alternatively, using a small amount of window or glass cleaner will also work. Good luck!
