Useless gadgets have been given the thumbs down in a new survey, which found electric nail files to be the most pointless product of all time.
The file, which supposedly gives 'technician' results to give a perfect shape and smooth finish, topped the poll of the top 20 most useless household gadgets.
In at second place were the Laser guided scissors, which claim to help you cut a perfect straight line. However, hundreds of people polled deemed the scissors useless as they don't help people with unsteady hands - the laser is attached to the scissors, so when the hand shakes so does the light |

Technology's impact on emerging countries and predictions for the year's hottest gadgets were the focus of day three at the 2008 International CES®. Produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the 2008 International CES, the world's largest tradeshow for consumer technology, runs through today in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The inaugural CES Industry Insider Program, "Technology and Emerging Countries: Advancing Development Through Technology Investment," kicked off Wednesday morning with an opening keynote address from Nicholas Negroponte, founder of the One Laptop Per Child Project (OLPC) and the MIT Media Lab. Negroponte spoke passionately about OLPC's goal of eliminating poverty in third-world countries through education. He explained that most of the nearly two-billion children in developing countries are poorly educated, suggesting that,"We must restore, introduce and create the passion for learning in children. |

GADGETS. We've always been in love with them - the smaller, the shinier and the more expensive, the better. We fell in love with mobile phones when they were big and unsightly and made a mockery of the word 'portable'.
We love having music-on-themove, even when that meant lugging around boom-boxes so large that they could simultaneously make you deaf and give you a hernia .
