Including jackets in your corporate uniform mix has many advantages that outweigh the expense. If your staff are working outdoor promotional events or your company is sponsoring a sports team, then the inclusion of a jacket is obvious. Your trade show strategy may include a giveaway to attendees as you want as many potential customers as possible to be seen wearing your logo wherever they go.

The type of jacket selected is varied as there are inexpensive nylon jackets that do not have a lining that make great wind breakers and giveaways because of the low price. Then your jacket purchase grows in cost when you add a lining, a thicker fabric, safety colors and reflective tape, pockets, fabric treatment or a hood.

Your business needs may dictate a range of jacket types as the duties of those who need and wear your company supplied uniforms dictate the features needed. Size considerations are best met by holding inventory for a few days so that your employees can directly test the sizes to see if they run larger or smaller than other styles of jackets they are accustomed to wearing.

Most fabrics are thin enough or the weave wide enough that they require the embroiderer to add what is known as a cut away or tear away fabric that is placed on the opposite side of the jacket fabric for strength before your logo is embroidered. To avoid the appearance that such backing causes, jackets with a lining are sometimes manufactured with a small zipper for the left chest.

Known as a Port Pocket on the Port Authority Clothing brand, that zipped access allows for the backing to be hidden and not be sewn through the lining. It is a simple yet wonderful thing to have and jackets with that feature to not cost more, you just have to keep an eye out for that feature or ask for it. Most jackets do not have that lining access so you may have to avoid the Port Pocket feature or limit your style choices.

Embroidering or decorating with custom ink color screen printing of your custom logo on a jacket is not limited to the left chest. You can use the wearer's right chest to personalize your custom jacket with an office title or person's name. I like to add the name to the front collar, and many use the back collar or yoke to write their website address. You can mix your decorating choices by embroidering a custom logo on the front, and then screen print your promotion or service in large fourteen inch square space on the upper back.

Best practices is to give yourself plenty of time to test sizes and receive a sewn sample of your logo and virtual mockup. Panic buying oftentimes leads to needless expense and stress.
