More about our Charity - THE JANET SMITH FOUNDATION

Janet was a loving, caring and warm individual, who suffered from the disease of addiction. She tried various means of coping with the disease. On the 18th April 2004, Janet ended her life as a direct result of
addiction. She left behind a loving family and many caring friends. Her death was way too early. Janet is a prime example of the person that the foundation needs to assist. Her potential will never be realized.

The cost of rehabilitation is beyond the reach of many addicts (R14000 – R27000) for approximately 1 month. Without rehabilitation, recovery is extremely difficult if not impossible. The JSF aims to provide a buffer for those unfortunate people who are financially incapable. We aim to raise funds by various means to assist those wanting recovery. In return we would require some form of re-payment from the affected addict. They would, in essence be required to assist the JSF in its operations for a yet to be determined period. The JSF will also encourage and assist post rehab patients with NA AA meeting attendance.

Possible candidates will undergo a strenuous selection process. Patients experiencing financial difficulties in an existing recovery program will be given preference. The JSF endeavors to negotiate more affordable costing at all times.
